PASSOVER, True Meaning 1
In the time of Exodus (Exodus 12:1-14) God established the first account of the Passover with the Israelites who were in bondage of slavery in Egypt for over 430 years. The Israelites cried and prayed to God for freedom. God sent Moses to let the Israelites know to celebrate the Passover, which is a lasting ordinance, at the appointed time on January 14th at twilight by sacred calendar year. They were to take a perfect, one year old lamb and slaughter it. Then they were to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the door frames where they were. When God passed thru Egypt on the Passover night, where ever God saw the blood which was the sign, no destrucion came (10th plague of the death of the first born son). However, where ever the Passover was not kept, God sent destruction. The Israelites received their freedom and marched towards Canaan, the land God promised the Israelites, flowing with milk and honey. Since God proclaimed the Passover to be a lasting ordinance, we should see a second account of the Passover in the Desert of Sinai as the Israelites marched towards Canaan.
